How was your summer?
September feels like the month I’m constantly asking the same question about people’s summers.
A better question I’m trying out and way more fun is to ask them what their favorite summer memory was instead.
Instead of getting “my summer was great” or “my summer was busy” — I get to hear about neat adventures or stories and more stories with lovely details.
Here’s my answer:
My summer highlight was gathering with family - both my siblings and my own blended family. I got to visit all my childhood haunts in Michigan. I swam in Lake Michigan, I rode bikes and ate lots of ice cream. I watched the sunrise and sunset over Little Traverse Bay (which is a weird phenomenon on its own) taking in the almost impossible blueness of the water, unlike any blue I have ever seen.
Summer was full of family times — not that it was all perfect, but it felt very precious and delicate and shimmery - knowing this summer will never come again.
What was your summer highlight that you want to hold onto for years to come?
Until next time...
